Cherie Blair’s father drops into Rochdale Labour Club!

Tony Booth, the actor and father of Cherie Blair dropped into Rochdale Labour Club, on Oldham Road, last week for a chat with local members.

Tony Booth shot to fame as the son-in-law of Alf Garnett in the 1970s sitcom ‘Til Death Us Do Part.’ He went on to fulfil a wide range of acting roles and at one stage was president of actor’s union Equity. More recently he has had parts in TV soaps Emmerdale and Eastenders.

Mr Booth came down to the club to show his support for Simon Danczuk, Rochdale’s Labour Parliamentary Candidate. He said: “I had a great night chatting with local members and I am delighted to be supporting Simon Danczuk in his campaign to bring stronger political leadership to Rochdale. He’s an excellent candidate and someone who will serve the town very well.”

Simon Danczuk said: “Tony Booth is a class act and someone with many years experience in politics; I had a very good detailed chat with him. Tony has done much for pensioner’s rights and I was really happy to learn from his experience and knowledge.”
