Skylight's Simon Hills does some club juggling on stilts
Skylight Circus Arts – the North West’s only centre for circus, based in Rochdale - are launching a brand new season of events and training.
Anyone inspired by the circus performers on ITV’s Take That Come to Town should try a Family Circus Adventure Day on Sunday 18 January 2009. Described as a "safe and fun introduction to many different circus skills" by Skylight, it is said to be an excellent opportunity to work off the Christmas glut by stepping out on stilts, spinning a hula hoop, braving the trapeze or trying your hand at juggling, unicycling or balancing on a tightrope.
A spokeswoman for Skylight said: "This is an all over mind and body work out guaranteed to leave adults refreshed and children ready for a good night’s sleep!"
Adults attending must bring a child, children must bring an adult.
For those already bitten by the circus bug, or those bursting to have a go, Rochdale Circus School launches in mid-January, offering "safe and challenging" evening classes and workshops for adults and children. "A chance to have fun and get fit learning aerial silk, trapeze, tightrope, stilting and more. No previous experience is necessary!"
Cath Rushton, one of Skylight’s experienced tutors and Project Coordinators said, “If you’re bored of the gym and want to add some creativity and colour to your evenings, come and give us a try!”
