Christmas baby/Christmas morning

Two babies have been born at Rochdale Infirmary Maternity Unit this Christmas morning. The first, a girl, to Zobia Jabeen of Rochdale was born prematurely at 12.35am weighing just 4lbs 3ozs. Baby is in the Special Care Baby Unit but both mother and baby are said to be doing well.

The second baby, a boy named Ben Harry, was born to Amanada Jane Tetlow of Middleton and is a strapping 9lbs 11ozs. Ben is Amanda's sixth baby; he has siblings aged 12 to 19.

Amanda said: "Ben is a wonderful Christmas present."

Two more mothers are currently in labour and their babies are expected to be born late this afternoon.

Elsewhere on this Christmas morning the town is quiet other than families arriving at the Parish Church for the Christmas morning service.
