Members of the Rotary Club of Rochdale, helped by volunteers from NSPCC Littleborough District and the CEO and volunteers from Rochdale Connections Trust, were hard at work from 9.00am to 5.00pm at the check outs at Morrison's Super Market Kingsway, Rochdale last weekend and raised £1,705 for charity.
John F Kay, President Rotary Club of Rochdale, said: "The aim was to keep the customers rolling through the check outs by helping them pack their shopping in their bags. The hope was that they would be so pleased that they would donate some spare change in our buckets in support of the National Charity NSPCC and the Local Charity Rochdale Connection Trust.
"It was hard work but well rewarded as the generous Rochdale Shoppers, in spite of the Country's financial difficulties, donated a total of £1,705.
"Thank you each and every one of you."
