Rochdale MP, Paul Rowen tabled a motion in Parliament warning of the dangers of the injectable tan, melanotan, and urging the Government to protect the public from potential harm.
The Motion tabled today by Paul Rowen, MP for Rochdale:
- Urges the Government to protect UK citizens from the dangers of the unlicensed injectable tan, melanotan.
- Calls on the Medicines and Health Products Regulation Agency (MHRA) in the Department of Health to ensure that individuals who sell melanotan on the internet to people in the UK are prosecuted and punished.
Mr Rowen, commented: “I have heard many reports of people in Rochdale using melanotan and want awareness to be spread about its potential dangers before anyone is seriously hurt.
“Selling unlicensed products online is a crime but is not been treated as such, the huge number of websites selling melanotan need to be shut down and the appropriate individuals prosecuted.”
