Family threatened at knifepoint at their home
Date published: 18 December 2008
A family were threatened at knifepoint by armed robbers who broke into their home and left with their two cars.
The family were in the upstairs bedroom of their home on Lenten Grove, Heywood on Tuesday (16 December) when a man tried to break down the front door.
When that failed, three or four masked men burst in through the back door, threatened the family and grabbed the keys to their Audi A3 and Audi TT.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
Detectives said the robbers all wore dark clothing and balaclavas when they raided the house at about 2120 GMT.
PC Wayne Hagan said: "What I'm asking people is to cast their minds back to that night and see if they can recall these two cars being driven at speed and in tandem in the Heywood area and near to junction 19 of the M62.
"If they do remember it, their information could help us catch this gang and at least provide the family with a crumb of comfort after their horrific ordeal.
"They have been subjected to a terrifying experience - threatened in the privacy of their own home - and we need to catch the culprits."
