Millbeck Gardens opens in place of Langley’s Three Sisters

Mayoress and Mayor of Rochdale open Millbeck Gardens with Jane Keegan, director of Bowlee Park Housing, and the first tenant to move in Mary Jepson.

Residents in Langley gathered for the highly anticipated opening of the new £5.2 million development, Millbeck Gardens.

The 48 apartments and two bungalows will replace the multi-storey towers fondly referred to as the Three Sisters, which are set to be demolished in Spring 2009. The project is part of Bowlee Park Housing’s redevelopment of the area, which was partially funded by Rochdale Housing Market Renewal.

In the opening ceremony, Rochdale Mayor Councillor Robin Parker cut the official ribbon alongside long-serving member of the Langley Towers Tenants Association, Mary Jepson.

Contractors G&J Seddon have been working on Millbeck Gardens for 16 months.

Jane Keegan, director of Bowlee Park Housing, said: “We are delighted that Millbeck Gardens is officially open and the tenants are settled in. I would especially like to thank our staff who went the extra mile to help our residents move and set up their new homes.”
