Local wages gaps revealed

Figures released by the National Statistics Office show that average basic wages for people working in Rochdale Borough are lower than those for both Greater Manchester and the North West by over £50 a week.
The average basic wages for those who live in Rochdale are also less than those who live in Greater Manchester or the North West but only by around £25 a week, due to the higher wages earned by those who live in Rochdale Borough but work outside of it.
The actual figures for average weekly basic wages are shown to be:
- On the basis of where people live: Rochdale Borough £378.80; Greater Manchester: £404.30; North West £409.30.
- On the basis of where people work: Rochdale Borough £359.40; Greater Manchester £410.20; North West ££407.80.
