The achievements of another highly successful year will be recognised during the annual presentation of awards at Whittaker Moss Primary School in Norden this week.
Ten awards for each class will be presented by Head Teacher Joan Williamson at the school, which once again has been judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
“It’s been an eventful year at the school," Mrs Williamson said. "I am proud of what we have achieved and that Ofsted recognised us with an Outstanding result for the second time. I would like to thank all our parents. The inspectors were impressed by their level of support for the school.”
Inspectors also praised the way the school takes care of pupils' personal and academic development. Excellent standards of behaviour and attendance were observed together with high quality leadership and outstanding teaching. The school's early years provision was also singled out for praise.
“We are using this firm foundation as a basis for further improvement next year, and looking to introduce new ways of learning in 2009," added Mrs Williamson.
This year the schools Christmas play has a topical theme. Entitled ‘Tinsel and tea towels’, it is about a school nativity performance held in the middle of an Ofsted inspection.
