Council wants to hear from arty folk

Date published: 10 December 2008

Rochdale Borough Council want to hear the views of everyone involved in the arts. With plans for a major new arts and conference centre in Rochdale moving forward, the council now need to determine what venues, groups and organisations currently exist in the borough.

Anyone who runs an arts group, organisation or venue in Rochdale is now being invited to get in touch by completing an online questionnaire or by answering a few questions over the phone.

Councillor Ted Flynn is encouraging as many people as possible to take part in the research:

“This is the first stage in looking at whether there is a need for an arts and conference centre. We want to find out what people want, and look at the facilities we have in the borough already. So, whether you teach a dance class, host poetry readings, run a theatre or gallery, in fact anything to do with the arts, we would really appreciate a few moments of your time.”

The questionnaire should only take ten minutes to complete.

You have until 5 January to take part in the research which is being carried out on behalf of the council by Morris Hargreaves McIntyre.

The proposed arts and conference centre would be built in Rochdale town centre.
