Real-life reindeer bring early Christmas treat
Date published: 08 December 2008
Girls and boys in Rochdale got an early Christmas treat at the weekend, as Santa brought some real life reindeer to town.
Dancers and entertainers met at the top of Yorkshire Street on Sunday (7 December) and took part in a fun-packed parade down onto The Butts, where the two friendly reindeer stayed to meet and greet the children.
The Rochdale Hornets, Littleborough Brass Band, and pupils from Shawclough Primary school were among the talented youngsters entertaining the crowd.
Louise Chadwick brought her daughter Charlotte to see the parade. She said: “I had a wonderful time, the atmosphere was really great.
“Its one thing for the kids to meet Santa but it really gets them excited to know they can meet real life reindeer.”
Irene Davidson, Deputy Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said “We’re glad to be supporting this event – it’s another great opportunity for you to shop local and save this Christmas and to get into the festive mood.”
