Mosque has the X-Factor

Date published: 05 December 2008

Youngsters at a local mosque will prove whether or not they have what it takes to match the likes of Rhydian, Leon Jackson and Same Difference, when they compete in an X-Factor competition tonight (Friday 5 December).

The Nasheed Factor, a talent competition based on the popular TV series, is taking place tonight at the Castlemere Community Centre on Tweedale Street. The Programme starts at 5pm and the winners will be announced at 7.

The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Robin Parker, will be on hand to open the event and see which of the young performers as the X-Factor.

The event has been organised by the Light of Islam Academy, the educational arm of the Chishtiah Mosque on Milkstone Road.

The Principal Imam Irfan Chishti is a local teacher and community leader who thrives on providing 'fun, innovative programmes of learning'.

"The Nasheed Factor is an excellent example of young creative talent that can thrive if only given the opportunity to do so," he said.
