A treat in store for Rochdale's little readers

Date published: 05 December 2008

Little bookworms in Rochdale are in for a treat, as a known publisher gives out thousands of free books.

HarperCollins is donating 2,500 books to children and families in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their charity partner, the National Literacy Trust.

Terry Piggott, executive director of Rochdale Council said: “We’re delighted to be receiving these free books and feel that they will really build on the successful steps we have already taken to improve literacy.”

Children and parent groups will receive the books throughout November and December.
