Adult Care plans in spotlight at public meeting

Date published: 22 October 2007

The future of Adult Care in Middleton will be top of the agenda during a public meeting at the Civic Centre on Thursday 1 November.

It's been called by Middleton elected members in response to questions raised at last month's Township meeting regarding Rochdale Council's plans to change aspects of its own home care service.

Head of Adult Care Services, Stephen Netherwood will be there, along with officers from the service and Middleton councillors.  Members of the public, service users and carers will be given the opportunity to ask questions and get feedback on the proposals.

Mr Netherwood said the council wants to consider the concerns of families, carers and users.

"The private sector has provided services in some areas of Adult Care for many years," he said.  "These plans relate to re-ablement which we propose to introduce. Monitoring and evaluation of the longer term support undertaken by the independent sector will continue and providers could be de-commissioned if they are providing an unsatisfactory service."

The meeting starts at 6.30pm at Middleton Civic Centre on Thursday 1 November.

Service users and carers requiring assistance with transport to the meeting are asked to contact Christine Ticehurst at the Township Office in Middleton:
