Transport issues to be discussed at public surgery

Date published: 03 December 2008

A public surgery has been planned for people who want to raise their concerns about local bus and train services.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority (GMPTA) is hosting the drop-in session on Thursday 11 December at Heywood Civic Centre from 10am to 1pm.

Officers from GMPTA and GMPTE will be attending and representatives from the bus and train operators serving Rochdale have also been invited.

Councillor Zulfiqar Ali, GMPTA spokesperson for Rochdale, said: “This will be the fourth drop-in session in Rochdale this year. I’m pleased to say they have been very useful for us – and I hope for passengers too.

“It’s really important we get the public’s feedback on their local bus and train services so that we can identify any areas for improvement.

“As well as discussing their services people have shown a real interest in public transport information and facilities and learnt more about the security initiatives we have in place.

“I would urge anyone who uses public transport to come along on Thursday and let us know how they think we and our partners might be able to improve services further.”

GMPTA is holding four transport drop-in sessions in all ten districts of Greater Manchester.
