Middleton town centre search for manager

Date published: 23 October 2007

Could you be the person to help revitalise Middleton town centre and play a key role in its ongoing development?  With many new regeneration projects planned for the shopping areas, it's going through its biggest change for decades and now the search is on for a full time Town Centre Manager.

The Town Centre Consortium sees the new position as a key part of the long term future of Middleton as a commercial and civic centre. The role will involve working with the Consortium to set up a Middleton Town Centre Management Company.  Initially the post will be within Rochdale Borough Council, as part of their Township Service, although will be transferred to the Town Centre Management Company in due course.

The successful candidate will need to be fully involved in creating the Rochdale Town Centre Management Company.  Other roles and responsibilities include attracting more visitors to the shopping centre, liaising with local businesses, managing the retail space, marketing and event co-ordination.

Howard Gibbons, Chair of the Town Centre Consortium described the position as an exciting opportunity: "Middleton is currently going through a period of immense change, with a multitude of developments and proposed new buildings in the town centre. It's the second largest town centre in the Borough and is well placed to really prosper in the coming years."
