Is a grot spot getting you down? Is a graffiti making you grumpy? Or are you just fed up with fly tipping?
Well, now is your chance to make a real difference to your area.
After listening to what you have told Rochdale Borough Council, they have decided to put an extra £100,000 towards cleaning up the borough - and the good news is that all of the ideas for what they do with that money come from you!
As part of a new campaign called the Big Clean, the council is asking local people, community groups, schools, businesses, youth groups, friends and neighbours to get together and come up with ideas about places that they would like to see tidied up.
It can be anything – from landscaping a grotty piece of overgrown scrubland, to creating a place for your children to play - or even creating a local wildlife habitat – the more creative, the better! The only rule is that the improvements must be to public land - and they have to stand the test of time. The council is open to suggestions – so over to you!
A successful application will demonstrate that the improvements will:
- Make a positive difference to people’s lives
- Help make your neighbourhood a cleaner, greener place to be
- Involve the local community in some way
- Have a lasting impact
- Applications are welcomed from residents, community groups, schools, youth groups, groups of neighbours and so on
Deadline for putting forward your ideas
The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 12 December 2008 - so you need to be quick.
