New skyline for Langley

Date published: 13 November 2008

Bowlee Park Housing welcomed four residents into new apartments in Millbeck Gardens, Langley, last week.

The £6 million apartments are part of Bowlee Park Housing’s redevelopment of Langley and replace the three multi-storey tower blocks, known as the Three Sisters.

Fellow residents chose Mary Jepson, one of the longest serving members of Langley Towers Tenants Association, to be the first to move in to Millbeck Gardens as a reward her for her hard work in the planning stages of the new flats.

The 48 two bed room apartments, according to Ms Jepson, have some of the best views Langley offers.

“It’s been a long wait, but well worth it, the flat is out of this world," she said. “The new flats have already cleaned up the area and it will be lovely when everyone else moves in.”

Jeff Allen, Bowlee Park neighbourhood manager, said: “We are really pleased that the first tenants have moved in and hope everyone settles in quickly. This is just the first of our redevelopment of the area and I’d like to thank all our partners.”

G & J Seddon built the apartments and The Riverside Group, Bowlee Park Housing’s parent company, and the Housing Corporation put up the cash. Rochdale Housing Market Renewal also provided money for the garden and landscaping.

An official opening celebration will be held in December.
