Mayor of Rochdale visits award-winning Salt Separation Services

Date published: 01 January 2025

Last month, the Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Shakil Ahmed, along with Carol Hopkins and Richard Hall, visited 2024 Rochdale Business Awards winner, Salt Separation Services Ltd.

The mayor and his colleagues were given a tour of the facility by directors Sarah Ashworth and Dan Shackleton and were able to see first-hand some of the projects in various stages of manufacturing on the shop floor.

Dan provided a history of Salt Separation Services and gave an overview of the long-term order book, particularly in naval and marine shipbuilding programmes.

Sarah (supported by head of people, Emily Williams) disclosed the vision for the development of an apprenticeship scheme, as well as the potential for initiatives and engagement with local community and charitable organisations.

The Mayor highlighted his chosen charities: Springhill Hospice, The Team Thompson Against Cancer Appeal, Aspire 2 Inspire Communities, Rochdale Heartbeat, and Get Together After Serving.
