Date published: 01 January 2025

KYP celebrated the holiday season with a heartwarming Christmas Festivity on 23 December - to bring together families of refugees and asylum seekers from diverse ethnic backgrounds for a delightful festive meal.

The event was designed to be held during the holidays, ensuring that children could enjoy the day with their families. It featured the distribution of food hampers to families and toys for all the children, fostering a sense of inclusion and celebration during this special time of year.

Zulf Ahmed, CEO of KYP, welcomed the guests and expressed sincere gratitude to Rochdale Borough Council for their generous funding of the festive event.

It aimed at promoting healthy, budget-friendly eating with an emphasis on including beans and peas in cooking. He also thanked the Christmas Toy Appeal team for their wonderful contributions that brought smiles to the children with gifts and toys, as well as Action Together and Possibilities for supplying the food hampers for the families.

Mayor Shakil Ahmed remarked on the importance of community support during the festive season, highlighting the role of such events in fostering inclusion.

He commended KYP for their dedication to uplifting the lives of vulnerable families in the community.

The event included free Henna tattoos for the children, adding to the festive atmosphere that brought excitement to the young ones. This celebration exemplified KYP's commitment to creating an inclusive atmosphere, ensuring that everyone feels included and valued.
