The students raised £300 for Alder Hey
Lantern Academy, based in Rochdale, organised a non-uniform fun day over the weekend of 19/20 October to raise funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The event was dedicated to students currently receiving treatment at the hospital, including one of Lantern Academy’s own pupils who is seriously ill.
The non-uniform day was organised as both a fundraiser and a gesture of appreciation for the vital care provided by Alder Hey. Mohammed Shahid, head of education at Lantern Academy, highlighted the strong support from the school’s community.
“What a generous community Lantern is,” he said. “Many students donated above the minimum amount.”
Students and staff alike embraced the occasion, which was designed to bring a sense of fun and solidarity to a serious cause.
“All students had a fantastic day for this worthy cause,” said Mohammed.
The event reflects Lantern Academy’s commitment to supporting both its pupils and the organisations that care for them.
