Knife-wielding robber makes off with £200 cash from shop

It’s believed that a man attempted to force entry to a business premises, armed with a weapon, believed to be a knife.
An armed robbery caused panic at a shop in Middleton yesterday (Monday 12 August) leading to a police appeal to find the suspect.
At around 4pm, officers responded to reports of a man attempting to force entry into a business while wielding what is believed to be a knife. Though no injuries were reported, the perpetrator managed to flee with around £200 in cash.
No arrests have been made thus far, but ongoing investigations are underway. Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak with, believing he may hold crucial information related to the incident.
Detective Sergeant Harris from the Rochdale division said: “Thankfully no one sustained any injuries, but the emotional impact of crimes such as this can be considerable, and the staff have understandably been left extremely shaken up from this.”
He added, “We are following several lines of enquiry and would appeal to anyone who recognises the man in these pictures, or has any information, to get in touch with police immediately. We understand that the images are not of the best quality but we are hoping that by releasing them, it may jog memories of those who were in and around the area at the time of the incident.”
