School raises funds for Rochdale Children's Moorland Home

Date published: 10 August 2024

Children at Shawclough Community Primary School have been taking part in fundraising events for the Rochdale Children's Moorland Home. The school held a non-uniform day for a £1 donation. Children from the Rainbow Provision also took part in a colour run where they completed an obstacle course around the playground whilst being bombarded by coloured powder.

"Every year the Moorland Home welcomes us to their beautiful grounds for a school trip at no cost. We wanted to give something back to this amazing charity who provide such fantastic opportunities for the children of Rochdale. We are delighted to have raised over £500 to such a fantastic cause," said Charlotte Keegan Rainbow Provision Manager.

Rochdale Children's Moorland Home is a non-profit making charity and is free to users. Local schools are able to use the facilities for free and children can be referred for a week’s holiday by children’s social care, schools and community groups. Children are accommodated with all activities, outings and support provided by Alison and her team of professional child care staff and students and volunteers.

This period provides an excellent opportunity for the children to improve and develop their social skills and also an opportunity for both children, their carers’ and parents to have some respite time. Quite often this is the only opportunity that these children have for a holiday.
