Brutal attack on Turf Hill leaves 20-year-old with life-threatening injuries

Two men were subjected to a brutal assault on Turf Hill yesterday (Monday 15 July) - with one of them currently being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Delamere Road, near Kingsway, at 2pm to find two men, aged 20 and 44, had been attacked. 

Both were taken to hospital, but the younger of the two has injuries deemed by officers to be severe. 

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 22-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. 

He remains in police custody for questioning.

A GMP spokesperson said: “Shortly after 2pm yesterday afternoon (Monday 16 July) we were called to reports of an assault on Delamere Road in Rochdale.

“Two men, aged 44 and 20, were assaulted and taken to hospital with serious injuries. The 20-year old’s injuries are believed to be life threatening.”

Enquiries are ongoing.
