Money raised to fund “amazing” prom night for Brownhill pupils

Date published: 12 July 2024

Pupils at Brownhill Learning Centre enjoyed an unforgettable prom night, marking the end of their school days in style, thanks to a dedicated fundraising effort over the past six months.

The initiative, led by school staff and supported by several local organisations, aimed to provide students with a memorable celebration. The project received contributions from the Rochdale Rotary Club, service provider Prospero, and The Talbot Head at Shawclough, which raised money through football cards and raffles.

Jackie Robinson, Community Development Officer at Brownhill Learning Centre (BLC), expressed her gratitude to all who contributed, highlighting the significant role these efforts played in making the night special for the students.

She said: “A special mention was given to Julie Mellor from Hebron Church, whose generosity and support were instrumental in providing many of the props and decorations that transformed the event into a magical evening.

“The students had an amazing night.”

A total of £2,939.37 was raised for the event. Leftovers are to be split, with half going to the BLC and the other half towards the cost of putting the school dog through therapy training.
