Thousands attend hugely successful college fun day

Hopwood Hall College and University Centre opened its doors to thousands of visitors as it held its annual community fun day this month.

In total, more than 2000 people flocked to the action-packed event hosted at the college’s Middleton campus.

All ages were in attendance, with a wide range of activities to pique all manner of interests and curiosities.

This included the opportunity to interact with some of the exotic reptiles that are homed at the college and cared for by learners studying Animal Management.

As young children handled exotic creatures such as snakes, one little boy even remarked that it was the ‘best day of his life’.

In addition to the creepy crawlies, visitors were able to enjoy virtual reality demonstrations, interactive construction activities, and gripping science experiments.

Meanwhile, the likes of archery, samba dancing, and crazy golf were ideal for those looking to enjoy something fast-paced.

There was also a 25ft climbing wall that allowed youngsters to rise to new heights on the college’s sporting fields where learners play the likes of rugby and football.

Those primary school-aged children who preferred to stay on the ground were encouraged to look ahead to the future thanks to the college’s careers department.

The team hosted a ‘what I want to be when I grow up’ costume session which saw kids dressed as judges, doctors, nurses and welders.

Julia Heap, Principal and CEO of Hopwood Hall College and University Centre, said: “It always means so much to our college teams to be able to welcome people to our annual Community Fun Day.

“This year was no different and we absolutely loved having so many smiling faces joining us for the event.

“The feedback has been absolutely incredible and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the festivities.”
