Ocean Colour Scene to play Rochdale Feel Good Festival

Date published: 02 May 2024

Ocean Colour Scene are the third headliner announced for Rochdale Feel Good Festival and will top the bill on Saturday 10 August.

The indie rock crowd-pleasers will perform on the main stage for the first time when it returns to Rochdale Town Hall Square this summer, along with live music across indoor venues, a quality food and drink village and other entertainment.

With five top 10 albums, 17 top 40 singles and a stack of awards, the much loved Britpop legends are best known for hits including the immortal Riverboat Song, The Day We Caught The Train, The Circle, Travellers Tune and Hundred Mile High City.  Famed for their rip-roaring live shows and incredible guitar riffs their sets boast some of the most life affirming sing-a-longs you’ll ever hear.

Formed in Birmingham in 1989, Ocean Colour Scene were a mainstay of Britpop with the decade defining albums Moseley Shoals, Marchin’ Already and One from the Modern. Last year, they completed a sell-out UK tour and released a career-spanning box set of all their studio albums along with five bonus CDs, totalling 230 tracks.

Ocean Colour Scene will be joined by the previously announced Lottery Winners, Heather Small, the voice of M People and many more to be revealed, including a local battle of the bands winner.

Early bird tickets are now sold out, but general sale tickets are now on sale at £15 each, available online at rochdale.gov.uk/feelgoodfestival or in person at Middleton Arena.

For the first time, to cut single use plastic, all tickets include a Rochdale Feel Good Festival re-usable drink cup to be collected upon arrival at the festival site.

Julie Murphy, director of corporate services at festival organisers Rochdale Borough Council said: “This is the festivals biggest line-up yet and promises to be a very special day, one you certainly don’t want to miss. Tickets are already selling fast and this will only increase with the news that Ocean Colour Scene are topping the bill.  We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the party this August.”
