Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash

A motorcyclist is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash in Heywood.
A Skoda Octavia private hire car hit the motorbike and the rider was thrown to the roadside on Middleton Road close to junction 19 of the M62.
The 41-year-old rider was taken to Fairfield Hospital to be treated for minor cuts and bruising. It was later discovered that he had suffered internal injuries and he was transferred to north Manchester General Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police were called to Middleton Road in Heywood near to junction 19 of the M62, at 5.30pm on Sunday 12 October 2008.
A Skoda Octavia private hire car had collided with a motorbike, resulting in the rider being thrown from his bike.
The two passengers of the taxi suffered minor cuts and bruising.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, which occurred at 5.30pm on Sunday 12 Ocotber, is asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 8473.
