Classically-trained pianist Margarita Capas and her WonderPiano students performed a captivating repertoire during the annual Christmas musical concert at St Mary in the Baum church on 17 December.
The enchanting ambiance of the venue was elevated from the outset of the ‘Piano Extravaganza’ concert with the opening performance from Margarita and her son, Marijus.
Their rendition of the grand and vibrant "Arrival of the Queen of Sheba" set a lively tone - a mood that seamlessly progressed with Marijus's performance of Chopin's study "Black Keys."
The subsequent two dozen pieces showcased a rich variety of characters, expertly portrayed by Margarita's students.
From Kimora's gentle and jazzy "Toyland" to the amusing renditions of "Cat Prowl" and "Jingle Jangle" by Barbora and Daniel, nostalgia filled the air with renditions like "What a Wonderful World," "Misty Midnight Garden," "To Catch a Dream," and the love theme from the iconic film "Romeo & Juliet."
The concert embraced both fiery and tranquil moments, featuring dynamic toccatas such as "Rumba Toccata" by Paul R Harvey and "Toccata" by Martin Cuellar, skilfully performed by Jenson and Darcie.
The audience also savoured gentle and peaceful performances like "Yesterday" by The Beatles, as well as duets like "The Name of Life" from "Spirited Away," "Winter Sky," and timeless Christmas classics like "Silent Night."
The magnificent St. Mary in the Baum church resonated with the harmonies of piano music and was filled with smiles and applause throughout the night. This magical experience was beautifully captured by the lens of photographer Kristina Zvinakeviciute.
The next WonderPiano concert will take place in the summer.
