Rochdale & District Mind's volunteer appreciation day

Date published: 19 December 2023

Volunteers at Rochdale and District Mind were celebrated on International Volunteers' Day on 5 December.

The volunteer appreciation day saw seven volunteers go to the Reel Cinema to watch a private screening of Disney’s Wish, followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea at Mind's Wellbeing Café.

Homemade sandwiches and desserts were served and each volunteer was given a gift bag as a token of appreciation. Lots of chats, laughter and getting to know each other finished off what volunteers said was a perfect afternoon.

Jeanette Toombs, volunteer co-ordinator, said: “The event was a 'thank you' to each of our 37 volunteers who give their time and dedication to our charity, and without them, our services could not run as efficiently as they do.

“Unfortunately, many of our volunteers work in the day alongside volunteering so a lot of them couldn’t come on the actual day, but they will be personally thanked and recognised internally.

“Your experience of helping people with their mental health issues goes above and beyond, and all staff appreciate all the work you do for us.”

Some feedback received from the volunteers who attended were.

  • “Thanks to staff and volunteers who made this afternoon fun!  It's great to be appreciated and get a special treat. The film was lovely, and the afternoon tea was fabulous. Thanks again.”
  • “I enjoyed our volunteers' day, especially our treats; it made me feel very much appreciated. It was a lovely time. Thanks so much for our special day.”
