Middleton crash driver urged to come forward

Date published: 21 October 2008

Police are urging the driver who failed to stop when a teenager was seriously injured when he was run over in Middleton to come forward.

At about 9pm on Tuesday 7 October 2008, a 15-year old boy received serious head and facial injuries, a broken arm and shoulder when he was hit by a car.

It is believed that the teenager was in the middle of Kenyon Lane, at its junction with Oldham Road, and he started to cross towards Lomas Street when he was hit by a vehicle, described as a white or silver 4 x 4 jeep-style vehicle with a square roof.

Police now believe the vehicle was a Honda CRV manufactured between 1997 and 2002.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are making a direct appeal to the driver to come forward.

Police Sergeant Simeon Holt, from the Road Policing Unit, said: "It has now been two weeks since this young boy suffered very serious injuries and the driver has still not come forward voluntarily.

"Our inquiries have narrowed down the make and model of the car and the net is closing in on this driver, so I would urge them to call police immediately because if you don't, we will be coming for you.

"I would hope they search their conscience and come forward because the family of this young boy have been left devastated and they deserve answers."

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 8473 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
