Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To construct a roadway drainage system.
Expected start and finish: Monday 18 September 2023 – Friday 22 December 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary 10mph speed limit on Over Town Lane for its entire length.

Reason: To demolish a balcony safely.
Expected start and finish: Monday 30 October 2023 – Friday 12 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lower Falinge, from its junction with Eliza Brierley Drive for a distance of 51 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Reason: To repair a waste water sewer in the road.
Expected start and finish: Friday 10 November 2023 – Friday 1 December 2023 or until the work is complete.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lower Street, from its junction with Fraser Street to a point 20 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for traffic.

Reason: To install an electric mains in the road.
Expected start and finish: Thursday 23 November 2023 – Wednesday 29 November 2023.
Restriction and location:

• Temporary one-way working on Gale Street, from a point a 35 metres east of its junction with Whitworth Road to its junction with Whitworth Road.
• Vehicles won't be allowed to travel in a westerly direction between these 2 points.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Norden Road, Dewhirst Road, Binns Nook Road, Fieldhouse Road and Whitworth Road.

Reason: To install telecommunications ducting in the road.
Expected start and finish: Saturday 25 November 2023 – Sunday 26 November 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary suspension of the mandatory cycle lane on Mellor Street, from a point 112 metres south of its junction with Bridgefold Road for a distance of 136 metres in a northerly direction.

Reason: To hold the Norden Christmas Lights event.
Expected start and finish:

• The closure and prohibition of waiting along Edenfield Road will be operative between 6pm – 6.45pm on Saturday 2 December 2023.
• The closure and prohibition of waiting along Trinity Street and Clapgate Road will be operative between 3pm – 10pm on Saturday 2 December 2023.

Temporary closure and prohibition of waiting along the following roads:

• Edenfield Road, from its junction with Hutchinson Road to a point 345 metres in a south easterly direction.
• Trinity Street, for its entire length.
• Clapgate Road, for its entire length.

Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event, there will be no alternative routes for vehicles in place.

Reason: To carry out electrical works to a property.
Expected start and finish: Monday 27 November 2023 - Friday 1 December 2023.
Restriction and location:

• Prohibition of waiting at any time along the north side of Fountain Street from its junction with the unnamed access road between Long Street and Fountain Street for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction.
• Temporarily suspend the loading only bay on the north side of Fountain Street from its junction with the unnamed access road between Long Street and Fountain Street for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction.

Reason: To hold the Littleborough Christmas Lights event 2023.
Expected start and finish:

Restriction and location:

• Temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along both sides of Station Road, from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Peel Street.
• Temporary closure of Station Road, from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Peel Street.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Church Street, Morgan Street, Peel Street and Station Road.
