The Rochdale Kingsway McDonald’s restaurant is raising funds for BBC Children in Need throughout November.
The restaurant team is encouraging customers to help make a difference to local projects such as Upturn Enterprise Ltd, which is just one of the local groups that currently benefit from monies raised for BBC Children in Need.
Established in 2004, the Upturn project’s mission is to unlock the potential and improve the lives and health and wellbeing of people from diverse groups and disadvantaged communities.
The Oldham social enterpirse helps individuals with additional needs from schools - such as Redwood School in Rochdale - with securing work experience and internship opportunities.

It assists with organising and funding schemes like the four-week McDonald’s work experience programme, where individuals are trained in each area of the restaurant whilst learning transferrable skills and independence all whilst boosting their confidence.
McDonald’s franchisee Gerald Thompson, who owns and operates the Rochdale Kingsway Retail Park restaurant, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting BBC Children in Need once again and in particular local projects such as Upturn Project.
“Community is at the heart of everything we do and being able to support projects such as this means so much to the crew and myself.
“It’s fantastic to see first-hand the positive impact our fundraising efforts have, and we look forward to supporting more in the future.”
Maria Williams, co-founder of Upturn Enterprise Ltd said: “We’re so grateful to McDonald’s and Gerald Thompson for the support they have given us.
“The funding provided by BBC Children in Need allows us to continue working with some of the most vulnerable people in our communities and we couldn’t do it without the support of our partners.
“We look forward to continuing this wonderful partnership.”
McDonald’s restaurants across the UK are fundraising for BBC Children in Need for the third year in a row to help support youth projects all over the country.
To date, McDonald’s has raised £4 million, which has enabled local charities and projects to support more than 20,000 young people in communities all over the UK.
