Teenage girl ‘suffering from medical condition’ rescued from Newhey Quarry

Fifteen volunteers from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team attended the incident
A teenage girl suffering from a medical condition was rescued from Newhey Quarry on Sunday (12 November).
Fifteen volunteers from the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were called by the North West Ambulance Service, whose paramedics were already on scene.
Due to the location, paramedics determined the best course of option would be to use one of the mountain rescue team’s 4x4 vehicles.
A spokesperson for the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team said: “We managed to drive straight to the casualty site. The teenager was then loaded into the vehicle and driven back down to the waiting NWAS ambulance for further assessment.”
Police were also called to the scene and confirmed they attended over concern for welfare of a teenage girl.
Emergency services were on scene for around 90 minutes.
