Police warn of bogus callers claiming to be from Rochdale Council or Rochdale Boroughwide Housing

The bogus caller claims to be from the council or Rochdale Boroughwide Housing and has asked for money for their services
Rochdale Police have issued a warning following "numerous reports" of bogus callers claiming to be from Rochdale Boroughwide Housing.
In the social media warning, police said: "Sadly, in the area, we have had numerous reports from those who have been victims of bogus callers and have parted with their money. The bogus caller claims to be from the council or Rochdale Boroughwide Housing and has asked for money for their services.
"Please be aware that council services and appointments can only be booked and paid for in advance through the contact centre and they will never ask for cash payments. The council service officers and Rochdale Boroughwide Housing will also drive in a clearly marked vehicle and carry ID badges.
"Please always ask for identification before allowing anyone into your home.
"Please do not forget that these bogus callers are experts and have scammed many people; you are not alone, so please report them. If you think a bogus caller has visited you, please call the police on 101."
