Date published: 13 September 2023

A biker was airlifted to hospital on Sunday (10 September) after falling near the Naden Reservoirs above Norden.

The biker was rescued by the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team after suffering a lower leg injury.

Volunteers from the mountain rescue team were called to the scene at 12.15pm by the North West Ambulance Service.

The Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team said: “Team members were deployed to the slopes above the reservoirs, where a biker had taken a fall and suffered a lower leg injury.

“Our team volunteers made their way as close as possible via vehicle before continuing on foot to the scene.

“They met with the air ambulance crew that had arrived and were dealing with the casualty who had taken a significant tumble on the steep slopes. The casualty was packaged onto the team’s stretcher and transferred to the awaiting helicopter for onwards transportation to hospital.”

The Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team is a fully voluntary organisation which responds to those in need in the local community. The team’s volunteers are on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and relies entirely on donations from members of the public to carry out this essential life-saving rescue service.
