Rochdale Sixth Form College is celebrating another year of outstanding results with an excellent pass rate and an increase in high grades compared to pre-pandemic benchmarks. In addition, 75% of students progressed to their first-choice university with an incredible 29% obtaining a place at the most prestigious ‘Sutton 30’ institutions.

Evie McMahon achieved A*A*A*A* in English Literature, History, Sociology, and EPQ and will be reading history at Cambridge University.

She said "I am so happy with my results, which have enabled me to fulfil my dream of gaining a place at The University of Cambridge. I would like to thank my teachers and SPDL for their constant support and guidance, which has been essential to the success I have achieved."

Several students successfully secured high-quality apprenticeships and employment in a wide range of fields, including Accounting, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, and Construction.

Following a competitive recruitment process, Aiza Aslam will be undertaking an apprenticeship with PwC. She said: "Starting an apprenticeship with PwC will allow me to enter the world of work and become more independent at a young age. The support I have received from RSFC is invaluable and enabled me to secure this amazing opportunity."

Earlier this academic year Ofsted awarded the college ‘Outstanding’ in all areas, with the report commenting that, ‘teaching staff create a highly purposeful and productive learning environment that enables students to flourish academically and personally’.

This year’s fantastic results reflect the hard work, dedication and commitment of both students and teachers in their pursuit of academic excellence.

Principal Karl Smith said: "Our students and staff are wonderful. To see the smiles and joy on so many students' faces on receiving their results is a privilege and testament to two years of their hard work and the unerring commitment and support of our amazing staff. The superb progression destinations of our young people continue to demonstrate Rochdale Sixth Form College’s & the Altus Education Partnership Trust’s commitment to social mobility across and outside of the borough. I am so proud of our young people and staff and of their achievements."
