Woman in 70s "seriously injured" after collision on Market Street

A woman in her 70s has been seriously injured in a collision on Market Street in Whitworth on Tuesday afternoon (11 July).
Market Street was closed between Healey Corner and Tonacliffe from 2.30pm until 6.40pm following the collision between a van and a pedestrian.
Speaking earlier this afternoon, a spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at around 2.30pm today (Tuesday 11 July) to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a van on Market Street, Whitworth.
"We attended with colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service and found a woman, aged in her 70s, with serious injuries.
"The road has been closed and will remain shut while collision investigation officers attend. In the meantime we are asking people to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible."
The North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.
