Mayor Mike Holly cuts the ribbon of Little Heaton's school library
The Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale – Mike and Margaret Holly – officially opened the newly refurbished library at Little Heaton CE Primary School in Middleton on 27 June.
The choir performed for the Mayor and Mayoress, and then they were invited to cut the ribbon and open the library, which was funded through money raised by parents over recent years.
A group of children interviewed the visitors, followed by an opportunity for them to discuss their favourite books and recommendations.
Headteacher Sian Hamer said: “As a school, we are working to promote a love of reading and are currently fundraising through the Tesco Community Grant Scheme for a book vending machine in order to provide every child with a book on their birthday.”
