Championship titles for Fabdance Centre

Date published: 09 May 2023

Rochdale’s Fabdance Centre came away with two championship titles in the Endeavour Championships in Boston, Lincolnshire.

Three students from the Rooley Moor Road-based dance school competed before coming away with first place titles: Mia-Grace Walsh, five, won the U6 freestyle solos, and sisters Lyla and Lois Briddon won the U16 rock ‘n’ roll.

The title wins are the latest in a range of stellar results for Fabdance, which also came away with trophies from the Drayton Manor Dance Festival earlier this month, competing against other dance schools from across England, Scotland, and Wales.

Twins Neve and Romy Devereux, 10, placed second in their rock ‘n’ roll and sixth in freestyle pairs.

Lyla and Lois Briddon also placed second in their rock ‘n’ roll and fifth in pairs freestyle.

Mia-Grace Walsh placed second in her freestyle solos which also resulted in her losing a life [three life losses result in moving up a section] and third place in her slow dance.

Poppy Shipley, seven, placed third in both her solo freestyle and slow dance sections.

Fiona Briddon, school principal, teacher and owner of Fabdance Centre, said: "I have always been proud of all our students from the studio, but never in a million years did we expect these results!

"We are always on the lookout for new kids to join our award winning compsquad.

“We had held fundraising events to help towards the expenses of the competition with local businesses providing raffle prizes. We would just like to personally thank our amazing sponsors, The Oxford, on Whitworth Road, for our uniform.”
