Flying Horse Hotel named Rochdale's best pub for real ale for 8th year running

The Flying Horse Hotel in Rochdale has been named the best pub in Rochdale for real ale for the eighth year running.

The Packer Street venue has once again been named Rochdale Pub of the Year by Rochdale, Oldham & Bury CAMRA, with the Baum coming in as runner-up.

Both multi-award-winning venues are run by the Lancashire Hospitality Co-operation, and are CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) favourites.

The Flying Horse Hotel was previously named Greater Manchester's Pub of the Year for two years running, putting the venue amongst the top 16 in the UK, whilst The Baum, tucked away on Toad Lane, was previously named Greater Manchester Pub of the Year in 2012 as well as winning National Pub of the Year in 2013.

Landlord Ben Boothman said: “A huge congratulations to the whole Flyer family.

“[For] eight years straight, the Flyer has been named the number one ale pub in Rochdale and we are extremely proud.”

CAMRA was founded in 1971 by a few real ale enthusiasts at a time when traditional rich-flavoured ales were being replaced by brewers producing beers with less demanding production and storing techniques.
