Launch of IT skills training sessions for beginners and those who want to improve their IT skills

Date published: 01 May 2023

A new training course for women those wishing to improve their IT skills launched at Castlemere Community Centre on Saturday (29 April).

The four-session course has been designed for beginners and those who want to improve their IT skills, such as making appointments, contacting schools, reporting litter or nuisance neighbours, finding help and support with domestic violence as well as emails and social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Dignitaries including the Mayor Ali Ahmed and Councillors Arshad Mohammad, Aiza Rashid, and Shahid Mohammed attended the launch.

The mayor appreciated the background of the IT skills project and thanked the ward councillors for their support. He said that councillors and organisations would continue to support such projects to empower women who need to communicate in this digital age.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, secretary of Rochdale Community Initiative, thanked everyone for their support and Rochdale Borough Council for the donation of laptops and funding to run the skills.

He said other classes would be organised, including language classes, sewing, and cooking classes.
