Man rescued from bog in Heywood

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service rescued a man on Saturday (stock image)
A man was taken to hospital with possible hypothermia after he was rescued from a bog near the river Roch in Heywood on Saturday evening (22 April).
The man was rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck by the riverbank near Summit Street at around 8pm.
Three fire engines from Rochdale, Heywood, and Bury, along with the Water Incident Unit from Heywood and a Technical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne were on scene for two hours.
They used a stretcher, ropes and lighting to rescue the man, who was assessed by North West Ambulance Service at the scene and taken to Fairfield Hospital with possible hypothermia.
