Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To maintain essential deliveries to building works at Kingsway Park High School.

Expected start and finish: Monday 2 January 2023 – Thursday 31 August 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary prohibition of parking on Stiups Lane at the following points:
  • The west side from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 50 metres in a north easterly direction
  • The east side, from a point 50 metres from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 20 metres in a north easterly direction

Alternative route: Not applicable.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 3 April 2023 – Monday 1 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Caldershaw Road for its entire length. This will be from the roundabout junction of Edenfield Road to the junction of Cut Lane.
Alternative route: The alternative route is Edenfield Road and Ings Lane.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new cycle way at the junction of Manchester Road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 10 April 2023 – Friday 28 April 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Suspension of the one-way restrictions on Partington Street. Vehicles will be able to travel in both directions along the entire length of Partington Street where open.
  • Temporary closure of Partington Street, from its junction with Manchester Road for a distance of 20 metres in a northerly direction.

Reason: To install new traffic calming measures.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 2 May 2023 - Friday 12 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of vehicles from proceeding along Edmund Street, Emma Street, Chaseley Road, Clement Royds Street and Peel Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed onsite.

Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 8 May 2023 – Monday 19 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of West Street, for its entire length.
Alternative route: The alternative route will be signed on street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: Saturday 27 May 2023 - Sunday 4 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of vehicles from proceeding along Durban Street from its junction with Manchester Road for a distance of 47 metres in a southwesterly direction.
Alternative route:

  • The alternative route for vehicles exiting Durban Street in a northeasterly direction will be Hannover Street, Heywood Road, Partington Street and Manchester Road.
  • The alternative route for vehicles entering Durban Street in a southwesterly direction will be Heywood Road and Hannover Street.

Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Half Acre Lane, from its junction with Links View for its entire length.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Roch Valley Way, Bury Road and Half Acre Road.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: To allow the safe delivery of works required for a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: Monday 22 August 2022 – Friday 26 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Rothay Drive, from its junction with Bonscale Crescent for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To carry out drainage works and construct a new site entrance.

Expected start and finish: Monday 10 April 2023 – Wednesday 31 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of vehicles from proceeding along Don Street from a point 165 metres north of its junction with Oldham Road for a distance of 107 metres in a northerly direction.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To carry out works to the pavement and road, and install parking bays.

Expected start and finish: 9am – 4pm each day from Tuesday 2 May 2023 – Friday 12 May 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Patterdale Drive, from a point 55 metres north of its junction with Buttermere Drive to the end of the street in a northerly direction.
  • Vehicles won't be allowed to wait at any time along the east side of Patterdale Drive, for its entire length.

Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Reason: To replace a defective frame and cover in the road.

Expected start and finish: 7pm – 10pm, Thursday 11 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Chapel Street, from its junction with Manchester Old Road for a distance of 15 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles. Access will be provided if required and safe to do so.

Area: Middleton
Reason: For works vehicle parking and to provide a pedestrian walkway to carry out electrical disconnection works from a property.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 May 2023 – Friday 19 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along the north side of Fountain Street, from its junction with the unnamed access road between Long Street and Fountain Street for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To facilitate the construction of a new site entrance.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 May 2023 - Monday 26 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporarily suspend the mandatory cycle on the west side of Hollin Lane from a point 37 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive to its junction with Oaken Bank Road.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To install new traffic calming measures and work on the pavements.

Expected start and finish: Monday 3 April 2023 - Friday 16 June 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Introduce 1-way working in a southeasterly direction along Heap Brow from its junction with Bury New Road to its junction with Bury Old Road. Vehicles won't be able to travel in a northwesterly direction from its junction with Bury Old Road to its junction with Bury New Road.
  • Prohibition of vehicles turning right from Bury Old Road onto Heap Brow.
  • Prohibition of vehicles turning left from St Georges Mount onto Heap Brow.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Moss Hall Road in a northeasterly direction wishing to continue onto Heap Brow is Bury Old Road and Bury New Road.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To facilitate access for heavy equipment and machinery.

Expected start and finish: Monday 10 April 2023 – Tuesday 10 October 2023.
Restriction and location:
Prohibition of waiting for vehicles at any time along:

  • Riverstone Bridge, both sides for its entire length.
  • Railway Street, both sides from its junction with Peel Street for the remainder of its length in a south westerly direction.

Area: Pennines
Reason: To allow tests on the railway level crossing.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am – 8.30am, Sunday 14 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Smithy Bridge Road, from a point 15 metres north of the level crossing for a distance of 40 metres in a south easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road (A58) and Smithy Bridge Road.

Reason: To allow for safe demolition works.

Expected start and finish: Monday 8 May 2023 – Friday 9 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along the westerly side of Charles Street, for its entire length.

Reason: For pavement and verge works.

Expected start and finish: 9am – 4pm each day from Monday 15 May 2023 – Friday 26 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Weston Street, from its junction with Halliwell Street for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Pennines
Reason: To allow tests on the railway level crossing.

Expected start and finish: 12.20am - 8am on Sunday 4 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Smithy Bridge Road from a point 15 metres north-west of the level crossing for a distance of 40 metres in a south-easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road (A58), and Smithy Bridge Road.
