Rochdale’s Army of Kindness and Penny Appeal host iftar event

The Army of Kindness and Penny Appeal partnered to host the Rochdale Iftar for over 200 people on the evening of Sunday 16 April.
An iftar is the evening meal after breaking the day's fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
The event - aimed at feeding the homeless, refugees from Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Ukraine and many more - took place at St Andrews Methodist's Church on Entwisle Road and was a resounding success.
Mohammed Sheraz, spokesperson for the Army of Kindness, said: "We are delighted to have partnered with Penny Appeal to launch the Rochdale Iftar. It was an amazing evening where we came together to share in the spirit of kindness and generosity.
"Penny Appeal is a fantastic charity that shares our values, and it was an honour to work alongside them to make a difference in our community."
Ridwana Wallace-Laher, CEO of Penny Appeal, said: "We are thrilled to have partnered with the Army of Kindness to launch the Rochdale Iftar. The event was a great success, and we were able to provide food and support to many vulnerable individuals in the Rochdale area.
