Taylor's fly-tipping on Hobson Street, Oldham
A Rochdale resident has been fined after fly-tipping in Oldham.
Denny Taylor pleaded guilty to a duty of care offence after his waste was found on Hobson Street in Oldham town centre.
The 34-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £378 and £22 victim surcharge.
Emma Barton, Oldham Council’s Executive Director for Place & Economic Growth, said: “Everyone should dispose of their household waste properly – by putting it in the right bin, taking it to the tip or arranging for it to be collected by a licensed waste carrier.
“These prosecutions show the council will take action against those who don’t.”
Rochdale Borough Council offers two free bulky waste collections of three items per household per year. Any additional items are charged at just £2.50 each.
Collections can be booked at rochdale.gov.uk/bulkywaste up to 3 weeks in advance.
Residents can also check details of a waste carrier's licence or report fly-tipping at rochdale.gov.uk/flytipping or by calling 0300 303 8884.
