Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To maintain essential deliveries to building works at Kingsway Park High School.

Expected start and finish: Monday 2 January 2023 – Thursday 31 August 2023.
Restriction and location:
Temporary prohibition of parking on Stiups Lane at the following points:

  • The west side from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 50 metres in a north easterly direction
  • The east side, from a point 50 metres from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 20 metres in a north easterly direction

Alternative route: Not applicable.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To facilitate the required works for the new cycle way.

Expected start and finish: Monday 20 March 2023 - Sunday 9 April 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Introduce one-way working in a westerly direction along Keswick Street, from its junction with Manchester Road (A664) to its junction with Knoll Street.
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a left turn manouovere from Knoll Street onto Keswick Street.
  • Prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time along:
  • The northerly side of Keswick Street from its junction with Knoll Street to its junction with Manchester Road (A664).
  • The easterly side of Knoll Street from its junction with Keswick Street to its junction with Colwyn Street.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Keswick Street in an easterly direction and wishing to continue onto Manchester Road (A664) is Knoll Street, Nixon Street, Manchester Road.

Reason: To facilitate the required works for the new cycle way.

Expected start and finish: Monday 20 March 2023 - Sunday 9 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Royle Barn Road, from its junction with Manchester Road for a distance of 50 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Royle Barn Road, Royle Road, Silk Street and Manchester Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To carry out works to a water main.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 29 March 2023 – Wednesday 19 April 2023 or until works are complete.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of vehicles from proceeding along Great Gates Road from its junction with Mornington Road to its junction with Gisburn Drive.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is being signed on street while the closure is in operation.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new sewer in the road.

Expected start and finish: Saturday 1 April 2023 – Sunday 14 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Stiups Lane, from its junction with Turf Hill Road for a distance of 85 metres in a north easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Turf Hill Road, Birkdale Road and Delamere Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair the subway wall.

Expected start and finish: Monday 3 April 2023 - Sunday 16 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of pedestrians proceeding along the subway under Albert Royds Street in both directions.
Alternative route: The alternative route for pedestrians is Halifax Road, Halifax Road subway and Albert Royds Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 3 April 2023 – Monday 1 May 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Caldershaw Road for its entire length. This will be from the roundabout junction of Edenfield Road to the junction of Cut Lane.
Alternative route: The alternative route is Edenfield Road and Ings Lane.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new cycle way at the junction of Manchester Road.

Expected start and finish: Monday 10 April 2023 – Friday 28 April 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Suspension of the one-way restrictions on Partington Street. Vehicles will be able to travel in both directions along the entire length of Partington Street where open.
  • Temporary closure of Partington Street, from its junction with Manchester Road for a distance of 20 metres in a northerly direction.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install new traffic calming measures in the road.

Expected start and finish:

  • 8am – 5pm, Sunday 16 April 2023.
  • 8am – 5pm, Sunday 23 April 2023.

Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Heights Lane from its junction with Knowsley Street to a point 435 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Howard Street, Whitehall Street and Quarry Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a waste water manhole cover in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am - 3pm on Wednesday 19 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Wordsworth Way from its junction with War Office Road to a point 25 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Bamford Way, Broadhalgh Road, Bury Road, and War Office Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To maintain the free flow of traffic along Bolton Road during the times that the Eid prayers event is being held.

Expected start and finish: Between the hours of 7am - 11am on Friday 21 April 2023 and Saturday 22 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of vehicles from waiting at any time along both sides of Bolton Road from its junction with Marland Fold for a distance of 150 metres in a southwesterly direction.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: To allow the safe delivery of works required for a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: Monday 22 August 2022 – Friday 26 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Rothay Drive, from its junction with Bonscale Crescent for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Middleton
Reason: To facilitate drainage works and build a new site entrance.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 25 January 2023 – Monday 10 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Don Street, from a point 165 metres north of its junction with Oldham Road for a distance of 107 metres in a northerly direction.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To provide space for works vehicle parking and pedestrian walkway provision to facilitate electrical works to a property.

Expected start and finish: Monday 17 April 2023 – Friday 21 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Vehicles will be prohibited from waiting at any time along the north side of Fountain Street. This will be from its junction with the unnamed access road between Long Street and Fountain Street for a distance of 13 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: Not applicable.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To fix a burst water main and repair the road.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 28 March 2023 – Tuesday 18 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Argyle Street and Egerton Street to its junction with Short Street and Seymour Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is being signed on street while the closure is in operation.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To install new traffic calming measures and work on the pavements.

Expected start and finish: Monday 3 April 2023 - Friday 16 June 2023.
Restriction and location:

  • Introduce 1-way working in a southeasterly direction along Heap Brow from its junction with Bury New Road to its junction with Bury Old Road. Vehicles won't be able to travel in a northwesterly direction from its junction with Bury Old Road to its junction with Bury New Road.
  • Prohibition of vehicles turning right from Bury Old Road onto Heap Brow.
  • Prohibition of vehicles turning left from St Georges Mount onto Heap Brow.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Moss Hall Road in a northeasterly direction wishing to continue onto Heap Brow is Bury Old Road and Bury New Road.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To repair an electrical fault in the road.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday, 15 March 2023 – Wednesday 5 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Stone Street, from its junction with Newhey Road for a distance of 10 metres in a south westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Newheay Road, Dale Street, Leach Street and Stonefield Street.
