Ultra4 Europe 2023 British Championship heading to Whitworth

Date published: 30 March 2023

A global 4x4 race is coming to Cowm Quarry over the last weekend of April.

The first round of the Ultra4 Europe British Championships – The Genesis – will take place at the Whitworth quarry from 28-30 April.

The event is a mixed heats format with four different U4 racing at different times on a similar off-road course in 700 horsepower vehicles, with 40 inch tyres.

Competitors from England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Europe will be taking part.

The main race event will be divided into five competitive sessions: one on the Friday night, two on the Saturday and two on the Sunday.

The winning team will win £500; second place £250, and third £125, with additional prizes available.

It's free for spectators and there are multiple spectator locations throughout the track, as well as food vendors and trade stands.

Andy Robinson, who has competeted previously, said: “This event takes place globally and is a massive bonus for our town to be hosting it.

“It's free for spectators to watch and no doubt a butty van will be onsite as well; I am buzzing that Cowm Quarry has been chosen to hold such a pristine event in the 4x4 calendar.”

Rounds two and three, the King of Britain and The Redemption, will take place in August and October, respectively.
