Jobs fair and extra support to find work

Date published: 21 March 2023

The Rochdale Jobcentre is hosting two events this month to help more people into work: a jobs fair and a support event for those who may need a helping hand.

Employers from across the borough who are looking to fill vacancies are invited to feature at the jobs fair on 28 March.

The jobs fair takes place at the Rochdale Exchange Jobcentre from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday 28 March.

Any employer wishing to take part should email rochdale.ea@dwp.gov.uk.

Molly Brown, DWP local partnership manager, said: “Across our jobcentres, work coaches provide every jobseeker with tailored support, helping to build confidence and develop new skills.

“The focus as we move into spring is to reach out to everyone looking to re-join the jobs market, no matter whether they’re single parents, young people, 50 plus or have a health condition.

Supporting You

Supporting You is designed for those looking for work who may need additional help into work. The event will have providers there who support:

  • Health conditions and disabilities (including mental health)
  • Armed forces/veterans
  • Care leavers (also known as care experienced customers)
  • Domestic abuse
  • Drug or alcohol dependency
  • Homelessness or being at risk of homelessness
  • Prison leavers

Mrs Brown added: “We have designed a ‘supporting you’ event with over 20 local providers attending later this month.

“The aim of this event is to help customers with health conditions/disabilities and other needs to find the correct support to enable them to move closer to and into the labour market.”

If you think you could use additional support and could benefit from Supporting You, please contact your Work Coach to book onto the event.

Supporting You takes place at Rochdale Jobcentre, Fleece St, from 10am to 2pm on Wednesday 29 March.
