Man receives head injury in altercation

A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital with a head injury following an altercation in Heywood on Saturday morning (11 March).

Police were called to reports of an altercation between two men at an address on Jura Grove at around 10am.

A 48-year-old man has been released on bail, after he was arrested on suspicion of a section 18 offence of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

A spokesperson for the police said: “A 36-year-old man sustained a head injury – although this is thankfully not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.”
